I’m surprised that with a dedicated motorsports writer and a renewed focus on motorcycles, this hasn’t made the front page yet. Two riders were fataling injured in a crash on the front straight at the end or beginning of Lap 1 of one of the WSBK support races yesterday. The linked story will provide the details, and there is video on YouTube, which was tough to watch, and if it shows that I think it shows, the stricken riders were hit by a bike that flipped through the air and landed on them, or one of them. Just awful.

I know that jalopnik has a renewed interest in bikes but I don’t think steph pays attention closely to motorcycle racing. She’s more a 4 wheel girl. Either that or it just slipped past everyone somehow

So sad. My condolences to their families and friends. Wonder what caused the chain reaction?
Unfortunately it brings up bad memories of Marco Simoncelli. Was at the USGP Indy in 2011. Big fan fav there right after The Doctor and Nicki Hayden. And he was gone the very next week.

I’m east coast so I found out about it this morning via Facebook. I’m not a bike guy, but I am a Mazda Raceway guy.

It’s motorsports, and since bike are included in the Weekend Motorsports Wrap Up, I assumed someone was paying attention to it.

No that’s what im saying. I don’t think she pays attention to the bike motors ports and I don’t think jalopnik has a dedicated motorcycle sports writer

That’s tragic, I hadn’t heard anything about it, and I live 2 hours away. So, so sad. Thoughts are with the families and friends.
